Dear fellow EGOSians,

We, the local EGOS 2015 Organizing Committee, appreciate and empathize with concerns that may arise due to the current political and economic situation at Greece.
We are facing an interesting and unique situation.  However, this should not cause more concern than is due.

Some practical information:

  1. Capital Controls:  Indeed they have been imposed, however, they do not affect non-Greek debit and credit cards. To be on the safe side, we recommend that you bring some extra cash (e.g., 50 euros per day) for additional expenses.
  2. The conference venue is outside of the city centre so we do not expect to be affected in case of demonstrations.  If you happen to be in the city center during a demonstration, you can take the longer route around it (demonstrations are usually contained around Syntagma square).  Also, check with your hotel reception and ask for their advice.
  3. The shuttle bus service provided for the Pre-Colloquium and Colloquium will run as scheduled.  Please mind that this is a special service for the EGOS participants (arranged long before the current situation).  It will operate on a first come, first served basis.  Please check the schedule.  You will notice that there are several pick up / meeting points at downtown Athens. It has also been announced today by the Minister of Transport that public transport will be free of charge until Monday 6th of July.

See you all in sunny Athens!!
